KAS impact statement
AI Verify process checks 11.1.1, 11.2.1, 9.11.1. This page is the public text for those checks. It is not a pass mark. Certification is in progress. Qypu holds no certificate yet.
In one line
Who KAS is meant to help, the environmental load we have not measured, and a check against a non-AI alternative.
The short version
This short version helps you understand the full text. Read the full text for the complete terms.
- The aim is a cap a person sets, and a tape the agent cannot edit. That aim is not a measured benefit. (Full text, section on people and society)
- No pilot has been run. No measured benefit is filed. (People and society)
- KAS does not train a model. No energy, water, or waste figure is filed. Qypu claims no environmental benefit. (Environment)
- A person, a plain allow-list, and KAS are three ways to check an action. No cost figure is filed for any of them. (A non-AI alternative)

Which checks this page answers
This page is the public text for AI Verify process checks 11.1.1, 11.2.1, and 9.11.1. It is a draft assessment. It is not a decision by a committee.
People and society
KAS is meant for a person who runs an agent that can change something: send, pay, delete, or publish. The person sets a cap in a mandate. The tape then shows each allow and each refusal. The agent does not edit that tape. A later reader can see what was refused, not only what went through.
That is the benefit we are aiming at. It is not a measured benefit. No interview is filed. The pilot protocol says the pilot has not been run.
Harms we can name without a study are these. A wrong refusal can block a legitimate act. A wrong allow can let a harmful act through. A tape can show who acted. A witness needs a computer, and someone to run it.
KAS stops an action you have not allowed. It does not make every action safe. The overview lists what the gate does not stop.
Environment
Check 11.1.1 asks whether the system is developed for the benefit of the environment. Qypu does not claim that. KAS is not an environmental product.
KAS does not train a model. The gate is a check in ordinary code. DESIGN_NOTES.md describes the gate's own compute as small. This page does not repeat a number. A small note in a design file is not a measurement of energy, water, or waste.
A gate uses the electricity of the computer it runs on. A witness does the same. Qypu does not monitor that use. No pollution figure, no water figure, and no waste figure is on file.
We will not call the project green. We will not imply a carbon saving we have not measured.
A non-AI alternative
Check 9.11.1 asks for a comparison with a way that is not an AI system, and for the resources that comparison needs. KAS is not itself a trained model. The comparison is still worth writing, because the thing being gated is an agent.
Way 1: a person approves each effect. The cost is that person's time. They see the action. The record may be a note the agent can edit. Fatigue is the failure mode.
Way 2: an allow-list in the program, with no signed receipt and no witness. The machinery is smaller. A change to the list can leave no signed record. A refusal can be thrown away.
Way 3: KAS. The extra cost is running the gate, storing the tape, and, if you want one, running a witness. No money figure is filed. No staff-hour figure is filed. This page will not invent one.
The whitepaper argues for a check before effects. That argument is not this comparison. This section is the comparison. No committee has signed it. No budget for the comparison is recorded, because the comparison is this page.
